National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day

Today, I would like to recognize all of those brave men & women who who lost their lives or were injured in the attack at Pearl Harbor on December 7th, 1941. Okay… so I’m a day late :-)

68 years ago + 1 day, Hawaii suffered a surprise attack by the Imperial Japanese Army, specifically targeting Pearl Harbor in hopes of minimizing, or preventing American influence in the pacific. However, these historic events eventually led to the rise of World War II. Visit this site to learn more about the history of Pearl Harbor and how this tragic event is remembered today.

Here are some iconic images from Google’s LIFE magazine collection. As I reflect on these pictures today, near the anniversary of that tragic event, I think of two family members, my cousins Dylan & Jimmy, who currently serve in the Navy and are actually stationed at Pearl Harbor. I am thankful for the sacrifices that they, and the other members of our armed forces make for us each day…
